Location and Accessibility

  • Where is Wa Ale Resort located?

    Wa Ale Resort is located on Wa Ale Island, which is part of the Myeik Archipelago in southern Myanmar.

  • How do I get to Wa Ale Resort?

    Guests can fly to Ranong Airport from Bangkok or drive from Phuket to the Ranong border (as it is close to the Thai border). To ensure a comfortable and smooth journey, Wa Ale Resort will arrange all transportation to and from Kawthaung and Ranong Airports to the Kawthaung Jetty, where we will transport you by luxury boat transfer to Wa Ale island. The boat ride takes approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes and our luxury boat is fitted with beds so you can travel through the beautiful archipelago in comfort. Accommodation

  • What types of accommodation are available at Wa Ale Resort?

    The resort offers luxurious tented beach villas, treehouses, beach houses and cottages all designed with sustainability and comfort in mind. For more information and to book your room now, visit our reservations page.

  • Are the accommodations air-conditioned?

    No. To reduce our environmental impact, we instead use state-of- the-art ceiling fans to keep our rooms cool and comfortable for your enjoyment.

  • Since the villas do not have air conditioning, are most guests comfortable with the temperatures at Wa Ale Resort?

    All our villas are surrounded by shady trees, and combined with a pleasant breeze and our state-of-the-art fans, we ensure our guests can enjoy comfortable temperatures and stay cool.

  • What type of power outlet converters should I bring?

    The standard voltage in Myanmar is 230V and standard frequency is 50Hz. Wa Ale uses the same 3 prong Type G plug that is used in the United Kingdom. We advise bringing a universal travel adapter or an adapter made to use in the UK.

Activities and Experiences

  • What activities are available at the resort?

    The resort features a restaurant that serves a healthy blend of Asian and Mediterranean inspired dishes, with a focus on fresh, locally sourced cuisine, including seafood and organic produce.

  • Can the resort accommodate dietary restrictions?

    Yes, the resort can accommodate various dietary needs with advance notice.

  • Are all meals included in the booking fee?

    Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner are all included in the booking fee for Wa Ale Resort.

  • Are all drinks included in the booking fee?

    House wine (limited to 2 bottles of wine per day, per villa), beer and non-alcoholic beverages (which includes sodas, juices, coffee and tea) are all included in the booking fee when staying at Wa Ale Resort.

General Information

  • Are children welcome at the resort?

    Yes, the resort is family-friendly and offers activities suitable for children.

  • Is WiFi available at Wa Ale Resort?

    Wifi available in villas and houses, as well as the main Pavilion Restaurant.

  • Do you host weddings at Wa Ale?

  • Is the water at Wa Ale treated/purified? Is it safe to drink?

    All water from every tap on the island is drinkable. The island’s natural spring water is double filtered and very safe to drink.

Health and Safety

  • What safety measures are in place at Wa Ale Resort?

    The resort follows health and safety guidelines to ensure guests’ well-being, including regular cleaning and sanitation protocols.

  • Is there medical assistance available at the resort?

    The resort has basic medical supplies and can arrange for additional medical assistance if needed. We have a full time registered nurse on-site at Wa Ale Resort.

  • Are there mosquitos on Wa Ale island?

    Although we are unable to provide medical advice, mosquitos are not commonplace at Wa Ale. We always suggest that you are guided by your doctor when visiting this region and Japanese encephalitis shots are recommended by many home countries as well as tetanus shots.
